THURSDAY, MAY 9TH: Townies, it's our last day of school. The Darcy kids are throwing a party tonight to kick off the summer of champions. You're gonna wanna be there... Never a good idea to miss a Darcy party.
"Indiana?" She head her father's voice through the wall, her room was only thirty percent concrete and the rest pure glass, overlooking the ocean, it was beautiful, even she had to admit it.
"Come in!" she said, rather loudly, her father was nothing but very respectful.
"I've brought you some Ear Grey" She smiled up to him and took the tea in her hands.
"Smells lovely thank you" she said, he took a seat on the edge of her bed and looked at her.
"Indi, some of the guys i've played golf with for the past month have inquired about you, they say, well their children say, they have not heard anything from you, and that you have no friends, and since you clearly stand out, i find that very hard to believe" She sighed.
"I dont care much about what a bunch of beach bums think dad, we are not staying much here, i dint see the point in hanging around them. Besides, they probably have issues around outsiders every town does, and i dont really feel like getting arrested again" she said and winked. her father gave her a stern look, but then it softened.
"You will not get arrested Indiana, i prohibit it, and that's not true look at your sister, she already made friends" I rolled my eyes
that's because Irina looks like mom, and she is perfect and pretty, im the odd one out here, in London or even downtown New York its perfectly normal, but here its the war of who can wear more pastel colors in one outfit" She groaned taking a sip of her tea.
"There is a party tonight, the Darcy's are throwing it, and it would really be great if you could go, actually if you do, you can go to the city next weekend" he said and grinned.
Indiana grinned back, nodding her head in agreement, her father stood up and kissed her forehead, "Dont drink too much, and take the Range Rover, i dont want a single scratch on my car"
“Are you actually going to listen to Dad, and go to that party?” Irina asked her sister from Indiana’s bedroom door. “As a matter of fact, yes. He promised that I could go to the city if I went to this thing, so im going, besides I might get lucky and score some weed or something” Indiana said, her little sister rolled her eyes with a smile. “Do you know why Dad knew about this party? Seems weird” She said, checking her eyeliner on the mirror. “Well he plays golf with a lot of business man, they probably said something” Indiana nodded and smiled at her little sister.
“Don’t wake me up, and I’ll leave some pizza in the microwave” Irina said, her voice lowering as she walked down the hall. Indiana looked at the mirror and smirked. She was wearing a high waisted black short, a cropped top, also black, and her Mcqueen sandals.
The engine on the Range roared and she made her way out, she was tempted to take her father’s car, but he said no, and if she wanted to spend the weekend on the city she had to be good. Reluctantly she followed the directions on her iPhone, suddenly another enormous mansion appeared almost put of nowhere. She parked her car near the entrance not really wanting to make an entrance and that way she could walk away whenever she wanted to.
“Nice ink” Someone said as she made her way into the house. “Uh, thanks” Indiana answered looking at the girl, she was blonde, tall, with a cool gap between her teeth. “Im Sephora” Indiana raised her eyebrow. “Cool name, im Indiana”
“You have an accent, Indiana is not that much of a british name” she said stating the obvious. “Well yeah, my mother wanted an original name, back in London, here is not that much” Indiana chuckled. “Have you met anyone here?” She asked nodding towards the house. “It’s the first time I speak to anyone besides my sister or my father, well except for the woman in the flower shop” It was Sephora’s turn to laugh. “yeah, well that happens, im from the city, and they just “hate” the flakes” she said airquoting hate, Indiana could only think how bad this idea was starting out to be. “Flakes?” “Oh you know nothing” She said walking towards the house with Indiana, explaining to her some things, about the Hamptons etiquette, to call it something.
“Sephora, who’s your… friend?” a brunette with a lot of make up said with a little frown on her face. “Holly… this is Indiana” Sephora said with a little eye roll, this Holly girl didn’t seem to notice, “Holly Grayson, nice to meet you” She said, with a little smug smile on her face. “Indiana Sky” I nodded with a smile. “Oh, England! Lovely, how long have you been in The Hamptons?” she asked with a genuine smile on her face “Right about a month, or so?” She said it sounded more like a question. “Oh, I loved England, excuse me” she said and made her way across the room. “Is there anything to drink here?” I asked scanning the room. “Yeah, just go that way, I’ll catch up with you soon” Sephora smiled.
The room felt slightly bigger once Sephora left, Indiana reconsidered the idea of staying, she was about to bolt through the door when she was almost slammed against a slightly smaller brunette. “Oh sorry!” She said. Indi turned around and stroked her arm. “Its cool” she said looking at the girl “Im Arya” she smiled “Indiana Sky” she nodded with a smile. “Oh!! You are the girl from the old Wessloh mansion, it’s a beautiful house, one of the prettiest” she smiled. “How do you know my house?” Indiana asked, mostly intrigued. “Once when it was for sale, and there was nobody living there me and a friend entered through the beach, we just wanted to see it, its beautiful” Indiana sighed relieved that it was a few years back then. “Oh yeah, it’s a great place, im more of city lover, but hey, everyone here is drunk by 2pm” I joked. She laughed, a tall guy with a messy dark hair was walking towards us, and Arya smiled widely at him. “Who do we have here?” he said, throwing his arm around Arya. “Holden Darcy this is Indiana Sky, she lives in the Wessloh Mannor” she said and grinned at him, he didn’t seem to remember but he nodded and smiled at her. “Nice to meet you” he said, his eyes scanning my body up and down. I had to say it wasn’t a bad thing; he was cute and had that mystery aura to him. She started whispering into his ear, and I rolled my eyes. “Hey, nice to meet you two” Indiana spun around and went straight for the booze without interruptions. After taking a couple shots she poured down a little more than half red cup of vodka and stepped outside. It was a warm night yet again, she was not expecting that to change any time soon.
“Indiana was it?” The guy from inside said, to be perfectly honest she could nor remember his name. “Darcy” she said and laughed to herself, it was a Pride and Prejudice moment and she had to rejoice in it. She was sitting in some lounge chairs with a cigarette dangling from her fingers. “Got a light?” he asked and she nodded, staring at him. He took the seat across from her and smirked, lighting the cig, and exhaling the smoke. “So, what brings a girl like you to this part of our little heaven?” he said and eyed her again. “A girl like me?” she asked, with an eyebrow raised.
“Well of course, different, I don’t know” She looked at him, taking a long drag out of her cigarette. “Okay I guess, so this is your home?” she said and turned around to look at the massive house”
“Born and raised in the Hamptons” he said, in a mixture of pride and embarrassment.
“Sounds lovely” Indiana said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “It has not been that bad, London sounds really gray actually” both chuckled and Indiana threw the bud to him teasing. “London is great, and people are not unusually happy all the time” She said, grimacing to prove a point, he laughed and she joined him. “Hey walk me to my car? Im afraid im gonna have to bring some life to this party” “You are leaving?” he asked with a frown, She stepped closer to him, “No, im actually going to get something that’s gonna make everyone happy” She winked at him.
